Next Step
The problem
Juneau’s overtourism challenge is not a single objective. Revenue, infrastructure pressure, glacier conditions, and resident experience must be considered together.
Method
The team modeled fiscal revenue, glacier impact, and social impact, organized indicators with entropy weighting, and used NSGA-II to search a Pareto frontier. ARIMA supported time-series forecasting, while sensitivity analysis tested whether conclusions survived key assumption changes.
Delivery
The final package included code, a 22-page English paper, and a memo for a tourism committee. Model outputs compare policy scenarios; they are not presented as observed governance outcomes.
